Sherron S. Watkins was named as Time Magazine’s Persons of the Year for 2002, along with Cynthia Cooper of WorldCom and Coleen Rowley of the FBI.

First Lady Laura Bush was top of the list of Barbara Walters's "Ten Most Fascinating People of 2002."  The rest of Barbara Walters’ Top 10 (in addition to Sherron), included: Dr. Robert Atkins, Halle Berry, Sarah Hughes, Tobey Maguire, Dr. Phil McGraw,  Charles Moose, the Osbournes, and Queen Elizabeth.   2. -The Scales of Justice Award was established by Court TV to honor individuals and organizations that show extraordinary efforts and courage in the fight for justice. Past recipients include Northwestern University professor David Protess whose project led to the freeing of many death row inmates and Erin Brockovich, whose fight against Pacific Gas & Electric Co. led to a $333 million settlement for the residents of Hinkley, California.
